Pont-Aven

During your stay at the Quinquis campsite in the heart of Clohars Carnoët/ Le Pouldu, a visit to Pont-Aven is a must. Made famous by the painter Paul Gauguin and his fellow artists who lived there, it lies around 20 km north of the campsite. It’s a picturesque town with a river running through it. It is home to some 35 galleries and art exhibitions. Watch out for expenses! You can rent a small motorboat for a trip on the river.

Pont Aven: a city of painters

Take a stroll through the city center and the port

The weather is fine and nature is calling, so you have no choice but to answer the call. To experience a real moment of communion with Pont Aven, you’ll need to park your car in a parking lot not far from the town center. Afterwards, you’ll have plenty of time for a stroll along the water’s edge. You’ll love it! We recommend you approach the Promenade Xavier Grall for a superb view of the city. Then take a detour to the quayside to admire the magnificent boats and natural scenery!

Visit the Museum and take a walk in the Bois d’Amour

The adventure has only just begun, but emotions are already running high. To keep you on that emotional course, we recommend a visit to the City Museum. You’ll discover wonderful art galleries produced by famous painters who came to stay in Pont Aven in the 19th century. You’ll also discover the city’s history through some very fine collections. After the Museum, take a stroll through the Bois d’ amour and marvel at the incredible picturesque landscape before your eyes. You can also take the opportunity to visit the Chapelle de Trémalo, with its mythical Polychrome Christ, for a truly memorable experience.

Enjoy the riches of Aven

It’s almost impossible to visit Pont-Aven without enjoying the Aven, this magnificent estuary invaded by the sea. You can initiate a whole range of sensational little activities. Boat trip, canoeing and hiking along the river. You’ll have no shortage of great ideas to keep you thoroughly entertained. To make your journey even more memorable, take a break to sample the local specialities. There’s something for everyone. You can choose to eat in or take away. Soup and fish from Pont Aven, Kouign-Amman (a famous Breton cake) and, of course, the famous local galettes… Taste all these delights and you’ll be telling us all about it.
